When you woke up this morning, you did so as the character in a story that was halfway written.
Everything up until now has been lead-in. Backstory. Setting the stage for what is happening next.
And you get to be the author of your own story. All that is in front of you are blank pages.
Despite what the critics may be whispering in your ear, how this story ends has not been determined.
The real question, then, is whether or not you’re willing to pick up the pen and determine what happens to you and how the story plays out.
Will you write your own destiny, or will you sit by while others write it for you?

Sam, I read Don Miller’s book, A Million Miles in a Thousand Years, about a year ago. Since that time I have intentionally looked for ways to Live a Better Story everyday. Ways to change my life every day to be more memorable or to impact the lives of others in some meaningful way. Just little things to do that matter. I even have it taped on my rear view mirror. The long term view is important, but we can start today with a little planning. A month ago, I scraped my website and am completely rebuilding my personal site, davidamoore.com to focus on nothing but Living a Better Story. Your post is spot on.
Thanks for leaving a comment, David. I’ve heard great things about Miller’s book. Perhaps I’ll dive into it soon. Best of luck as you rebuild your site and seek out moments to do things that matter. I look forward to keeping an eye on what you’re up to.
