#011: Accomplishment vs. Purpose

Don't motivate your team to chase accomplishments. Dare them to chase some great big purpose.

I've found that when you motivate people to chase an accomplishment only (a sales goal, a market share percentage, a profit margin), they may hit it, but you're left with not much more than a milestone for a memory.

But, when you help others chase a great big purpose - in their life and in the life of your organization - you'll end up with a truckload of accomplishments as well.

Pursue a purpose and you'll end up with accomplishment, too. Pursue accomplishment, and you may get neither.
