Want to be liked by everyone? Stay shallow.
Want to be loved by a few? Go deep.
The narrower the application, the narrower the appreciation.
Build or lead something for a handful of people and you’ll be appreciated by a handful people.
But that appreciation will be deep. A narrow audience or team means you can go deeper emotionally and communally, creating deeper impact.
On the other hand, building something for a lot of people may increase adoption, but not depth. Too many people and uses and not enough time or bandwidth for you to meaningfully connect with all of them.
Both options allow you to make an impact; the choice is which one you prefer.
Craters last longer than footprints.
