When Small is Big

I had dinner with an entrepreneur friend recently. As she was recounting the ups and downs of her previous year, she let me know something she had learned: "I celebrate the things that are big for me, even if they would be small for someone else."

How much more beautiful life and work could be if we'd stop to celebrate what's big for us, and not just what's big to someone else. The new client, the relationship milestone, the weight lost, the perspective gained - these can all be causes of celebration.

Don't compare your high point to someone else's. It's okay to pause where you are and look up at the immensity of what you've just done.

Even if you're in the shadow of someone else, your achievement can shine brightly.
