Brain Snacks 001: The Hardest Thing About an Idea
A lot of people think coming up with ideas is the hard part. They’re wrong - idea creation is easy.
Get a white board or a new word doc. Go nuts. “No idea is a bad idea.” Focus for a half hour and your board or page is full.
The next step is harder: nurturing and growing an idea. This takes time and resources. Commitment. Decisions. Changes. Bravery. Humility.
The hardest step? Killing an idea. Knowing that when it’s not working, it’s time to move on. You have to let go of all the hard work, the sunk costs, the very thing you tried to nurture since you birthed it.
But once you let go of it, you can now start over and breathe new life into something that just might work this time.
Create, grow, kill, repeat. Consider it the Idea Circle of Life.
