Brain Snacks 008: It's not cold; you're cold
Winter hits and it’s time to crank up the heat indoors. Go to your thermostat, make some adjustments and soon that heater - sidelined for the past few months - is cranked up and warming your home.
Or you could just put on a jacket. Different effort, same effect: congratulations, you’re warm.
Unless your intent all along was to change the environment, and not just yourself.
When change is needed, pause a bit to see if you just need to change yourself or the entire system. Confusing the two will have you misdirecting effort in what could be a colossal waste of time. Houses have thermostats; people have jackets. Don’t try and swap the two.
Individual change requires individual effort. Community change requires communal effort.
