We often mistake validation for belonging.

Social media tricks us into thinking what we need is validation - another like or repost that shows our ideas and stories have merit.

But those hits don’t last long and we’re soon at it again, hustling for another high based on views or mentions. We’re chasing raindrops with a teacup, dying of thirst.

Rather, we need belongoing that is only found in deep community. We need our cup to run over with acceptance and security, closeness and meaning.

Chasing validation is exhausting; chasing community is invigorating.
