A quick primer on what makes a community a community.
Three things must be present, usually in this order:
Safety
Growth
Meaning
We form communities for a feeling of protection and safety. Then, we use communities to learn and improve. And then our communities help us find purpose and values.
The presence of all three are what separate deep communities from mere interest groups or crowds.
Work patiently and deliberately on these three attributes and you’ll have a community that can accomplish great things.
